The Tigers earned their 17th commit to their rapidly-growing 2026 recruiting class in three star safety Carter Stewart.
The news came out around noon on Monday, with Rival’s Hayes Fawcett breaking the news.
The 6-1 safety, a Pearland, Texas product, committed to Utah on June 16th and became the teams first safety in its 2026 class.
Stewart visited this past weekend during the Tigers’ matchup against Alabama, but hadn’t had previous connections with Mizzou.
Stewart joins 16 other Tigers as Mizzou’s 2026 recruiting class is starting to turn around. The Tigers’ class was ranked outside of the top 80 in 247Sport’s team rankings and is now ranked 33rd with the new addition. He’s the second safety to commit to the class, joining Tony Forney, who committed on the 4th of July.

Stewart is a hard hitter who’s also quick when in pass coverage. In his Hudl, he did a good job of sticking with defenders and breaking up passes. Stewart is not somebody that high school quarterbacks are looking to throw in the direction of. It’ll be interesting to see if he can make an instant impact on a Mizzou secondary that hasn’t been the prettiest this season.
