A year ago, Tyler Shough was on hand to coach at the Manning Passing Academy in Thibodaux. Peyton Manning praised his leadership and commitment at the time, highlighting his influence on the high schoolers in attendance.
A year later, with the camp celebrating its 30th anniversary, the elder Manning brother has once again been speaking highly of the Saints quarterback, who now has half a season of NFL football under his belt and is gearing up for a season where he enters the frame as QB1 in New Orleans.
“I thought Shough had a good year,” he told WGNO. “I know Tyler got great experience playing as a rookie that will benefit him even more.”
Manning added that continuity should be an important factor for Shough, who enters his second season under the same head coach and offensive coordinator in Kellen Moore and Doug Nussmeier.
“I’m pulling hard for him this year.”
Few voices carry greater weight than that of the 2-time Super Bowl champ. He’s not the only one with an optimistic outlook for the season ahead for both the Saints as a whole and Shough in particular.
