Holly Holm’s first title fight in 12 years ended in disappointment.
On Saturday at a Most Valuable Promotions boxing event in San Juan, Puerto Rico, the former UFC star lost a technical decision to WBA
lightweight champion Stephanie Han. The bout was scheduled for 10 rounds, but ended in the seventh due to an accidental headbutt that left Han with a bloody cut across her forehead.

As a result of that accidental foul, the bout was halted and seven rounds were judged, with Han winning via scores of 69-65, 69-64, and 68-65. With the win, Han recorded her second straight WBA title defense and improved to 12-0 as a pro.
Holm, 44, made a successful return to boxing this past June with a unanimous decision win over Yolanda Vega. Prior to becoming UFC bantamweight champion in 2015 with a memorable knockout of Ronda Rousey, Holm was a pioneer for women’s boxing, winning and defending world titles at light middleweight, welterweight, and light welterweight. Her record falls to 34-3-3 with the loss to Han.

In Saturday’s main event, featherweight champion Amanda Serrano (48-4-1) successfully defended her WBA and WBO titles via unanimous decision (98-92, 97-93, 97-93) against Reina Tellez (13-1-1). The victory was vindication for Serrano, who fought in her native Puerto Rico for the first time since 2021. Serrano was scheduled for a title defense against Nina Meinke in San Juan in December 2023, but was ruled medically unfit to compete on fight night due to an eye injury caused by a hair treatment.
