Following a 1-1 draw with Celta Vigo on Sunday night in Galicia, Atlético Madrid coach Diego Simeone was left focusing on the positives as he addressed the media.
“I left very happy and pleased with the
effort the lads put in, celebrating the great work they did,” he explained. “We were able to play a game with one less player for 60 minutes and we responded to a huge effort from everyone, which is why I left feeling so happy.”
Diego Simeone on red cards away from home
“There’s no point in talking about that, because it won’t change what happened. I’ll focus on the situations in the game. When we were 11 against 11, we had it under control, with dangerous counterattacks. With 10 men, we defended quite well, we couldn’t create anything beyond Koke’s chance, but I’m very happy with the team’s overall performance.”

Diego Simeone on taking one point
“I always focus on the positives. And on the positive side, in a complex situation like the sending-off, the team responded very well. The lads worked hard, it’s not easy to play 60 minutes with one less player and they responded well.”
Diego Simeone on taking off substitute Javi Galán
“It was 1-1. I understood that Nico could give us what he had left on the left, and Baena came on to try to give us a little more attacking aggression.”
Diego Simeone on the refereeing
“I’m not going to comment. Sorry, but no. It’s the famous ‘criteria.’”
