Jules Koundé has lost some of his playing time at Barcelona, and rumors of a potential exit are heating up. Once a locked-down starter for club and country, Koundé is now less assured of a place in the starting XI. Bayern Munich have joined Chelsea among the clubs said to be looking at a potential transfer.
A report from Germany has confirmed what Catalan newspaper Diario SPORT had reported previously: Bayern are looking at options to reinforce their defense and the Barcelona player is on the list.
Bayern have alternated between Konrad Laimer and Josip Stanišić at right-back. They also have Sacha Boey, though he does not seem to fit into manager Vincent Kompany’s plans. Still, they are looking for an upgrade and Koundé could fit the bill.
Bayern reportedly think that the Frenchman can recover his best form after the recent lull he finds himself in. They may need to sell first, and Boey would be a prime candidate. But the biggest issue is the player himself. At the moment, he is said to have no rush to leave Barcelona and he has a contract until 2030. The Catalan club is also under no obligation to sell, though they may want to in order to make other signings.
Apart from Koundé, Bayern are said to be considering Givairo Read from Feyenoord as a potential reinforcement.
