“Do Bronx” continues to add to his legendary career.
Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Lightweight champion Charles Oliveira scored another highlight-reel finish in the main event of UFC Rio last
night (Sat., Oct. 11, 2025) when he tapped Mateusz Gamrot with a rear-naked choke in the second round inside Farmasi Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (watch highlights).
With his latest finish, Oliveira tied mixed martial arts (MMA) legend Mirko Cro Cop for the most finishes in combined UFC/WEC/PRIDE/Strikeforce history (21) — which is downright absurd when you remember that “Do Bronx” still has plenty of fight left in him.
On top of that, Oliveira also tied Neil Magny for second-most wins in UFC history (24), trailing only Jim Miller (27). He, of course, already owns the all-time record for most submission victories (17) in the promotion.
Simply put, Oliveira is still building on what is already one of the most statistically dominant and fan-beloved careers in UFC history.
Saturday’s performance also marked a huge rebound moment for the Brazilian, who returned to the win column after suffering a devastating knockout loss to Ilia Topuria in their fight for the vacant Lightweight title earlier this year. Oliveira looked composed, confident, and downright dangerous against Gamrot — the kind of form that made him one of the scariest finishers in UFC history.
After the fight, Oliveira wasted no time calling for another massive opportunity, this time for the “BMF” title against Max Holloway in 2026 — a potential rematch nearly a decade in the making.
If he can pull that off — and add another legendary scalp to his resume — “Do Bronx” might just go down as the most prolific finisher in MMA history, period.
