Harry Kane is leading the charge for the Ballon d’Or sweepstakes, with the Bayern Munich star proving time and time again why he should win it this year. The England captain sat down for an interview with Yassin Nfaoui from the Telegraph (as captured by X account @iMiaSanMia
) and talked about a bit of Ballon d’Or history regarding Bayern.Kane was asked who the last Ballon d’Or winner for Bayern was and when he won it. He believes it was “Karl-Heinz Rummenigge [45 years ago]. When you know how many
legends Bayern have had, that’s a long time ago. Let’s see what happens.”
The 33-year-old striker also confirmed his desire to win the award: “Yeah, it’s a goal to be the best player in the world. It would be a wonderful feeling. The Ballon d’Or is the biggest individual award. Let’s see what happens. There are many candidates: Mbappé, Dembélé, Yamal, Rodri – all top players. It’s exciting because everything is possible this year. There’s also Michael Olise who had a great season and a great world cup. We’ll see. The Ballon d’Or is really special.”
The Ballon d’Or is set to be awarded on October 26, 2026.
