Chelsea interested in Kim (Korea Times)
Chelsea FC could be looking at Bayern Munich center-back Kim Min-jae as a candidate for a summer transfer:
This season, too, he has not been an automatic starter. This season, he has made eight starts, nine substitute appearances, and missed seven matches and this has inevitably led to suggestions that he could be on the move. And these days, the clubs that are spending most of the money are in the English Premier League.
Chelsea has been linked before and has been once again. The wealthy London club,
which became the FIFA Club World Champion last summer, is always active in the transfer market. There has recently been a change of head coach and that often brings a surge in activity.
It is believed that Bayern Munich boss Vincent Kompany wants the Korean to stay. As we all know, it all depends on whether the player wants to go.
Earlier in January, Kim said publicly, “I have never even considered a transfer.”
Chelsea has looked vulnerable at the back this season and could do with some reinforcement. After winning the title in Italy and Germany, doing the same in England would complete a special hat trick.
But Chelsea is not going to win the English title this season, so it could be better to wait until the next campaign when new coach Liam Rosenior has had time to put his team together.
Kim’s future at Bayern Munich is uncertain at best moving forward. If Dayot Upamecano re-ups, Kim would opt to leave Bayern Munich in search of a starting job. The South Korean center-back could push for more playing time in the second half of the season if he can build off what he did vs. FC Köln last week.
Eberl would have been happy to get Wirtz (Bild via @iMiaSanMia)
In an interview with Bild that contained a “True or false?” segment, Bayern Munich board member for sport Max Eberl was asked if he was happy that Liverpool FC attacker Florian Wirtz rejected a move to Bayern Munich before moving to Liverpool from Bayer Leverkusen.
Eberl — not shockingly — took the path of least resistance with his response:
True or false? Max Eberl is happy that Florian Wirtz rejected a move to FC Bayern because that resulted in Luis Díaz joining the club..
Eberl: “Honestly I’d say false. We’d have been very happy if Florian Wirtz had chosen FC Bayern. He decided for the Premier League. And we’re very happy we made another very good decision by signing Luis Díaz.”
Bayern Munich went hard after Wirtz, but when he spurned the move the arrival of Díaz, the emergence of Lennart Karl, and the re-emergence of Serge Gnabry all helped fill the void. All-in-all, it worked out for the Bavarians.
Neuer, Tah, Olise, Kane recognized for big efforts vs. Leipzig (Kicker via @iMiaSanMia)
Bayern Munich stars Manuel Neuer, Jonathan Tah, Michael Olise, and Harry Kane were all named to Kicker’s Bundesliga Player of the Week:

Frank to remain in place…for now (ESPN)
As of now, Tottenham Hotspur is not planning to sack Thomas Frank:
Thomas Frank is expected to remain in charge at Tottenham for their Champions League clash with Borussia Dortmund, Sky Sports report. Spurs’ recent dismal run went from bad to worse at the weekend with a late 2-1 defeat to London rivals West Ham. However, it doesn’t mean his job is safe. The Spurs hierarchy is believed to be looking at all options.
It will be shocking if Frank survives a loss to Borussia Dortmund.
Juve making big plans? (ESPN)
Juventus could be planning a lot of roster changes:
There have been various links involving Juventus. Firstly, Sky Sports Italia reports that the Bianconeri are considering whether to move for Crystal Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta now or in the summer, with the Eagles wanting a fee of around €40 million. Meanwhile, Gazzetta dello Sport states that they could move for Celta Vigo right back Oscar Mingueza, despite his contract ending in the summer, in addition to completing the return of Liverpool winger Federico Chiesa. And a video from the same outlet says they dream of landing Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva. Finally, Nicolo Schira suggests that Juve are planning a summer move for Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali.
Leipzig eyeing another midfielder (Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg)
RB Leipzig was recently linked to Borussia Mönchengladbach midfielder Rocco Reitz, but if the BuLi contenders cannot get the Germany youth international, it will look to Celtic midfielder Arne Ingles:
🚨🔴⚪️ EXCL | RB Leipzig are also exploring a deal for Arne #Engels.
… for example, if Rocco Reitz does not arrive in the summer.
A winter departure for Engels is also possible. Plenty of enquiries. The 22 y/o top midfielder is under contract with Celtic until 2028.
@SkySportDE
It feels like a Reitz-to-Leipzig deal will be workable for everyone involved and it would be a good, next step for Reitz.
