Bayern might not be done after all (Transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano)
You might think that spending approximately €110 million on PSV Eindhoven attacking Ismael Saibari and Eintracht Frankfurt left-back Nathaniel Brown would be the end of Bayern Munich’s summer spending.
Not so fast my friend — Fabrizio Romano says there is more to come:
Bayern are not done on the market after spending €110m on Ismael Saibari and Nathaniel Brown.
With Sabari likely slotted to compete with Jamal Musiala and back-up Harry Kane and Brown able to play left-back and right-back, the squad has
good depth, but maybe the team is looking to still add a central midfielder or even make an upgrade at center-back.
Those would seem like the most likely scenarios. What do you think? What position will Bayern Munich look to bolster next.
Barca like Karl, but won’t try to sign him (Sport Bild’s Christian Falk)
FC Barcelona was linked to Bayern Munich star Lennart Karl
❌ It is NOT TRUE: Barcelona want to sign Lennart Karl. It could very well be that there is interest and admiration of the German’s quality and potential. But Bayern Munich will not sell Karl. It’s such a pity that he’s injured at the moment. It was such a big surprise that he had a big chance to start in Germany’s first XI. Remember, one year ago, he wasn’t even in the squad at Bayern Munich; he was just a talent on the campus. So, it would have been lovely to see him at the World Cup. Now he’s injured and back at Säbener Straße for his medical checks and so on. But these medical checks are to get him fit again for Bayern Munich – not Barcelona.
Real could make a play for Nmecha (ESPN)
Real Madrid is looking to make a big splash this summer and likes what it has seen from Borussia Dortmund central midfielder Felix Nmecha:
Real Madrid have lodged an enquiry for Borussia Dortmund midfielder Felix Nmecha, reports Sky Germany. New Madrid manager José Mourinho thinks very highly of Nmecha, who was a standout performer in Germany’s impressive 7-1 win against Curaçao in their World Cup opener. The 25-year-old is under contract at Dortmund until 2030, although he does have a €70 million release clause that becomes active from next summer.
The story gets more wild for Cabo Verde (Front Office Sports)
Getting a job via a LinkedIn DM is probably cool. Getting a national team spot in that manner has to be…odd, but fulfilling:
Hammers eyeing Irankunda (Football Insider)
Nestory Irankunda had a nice goal for Australia and now he is getting a lot of attention:
West Ham United are among a number of English clubs keeping tabs on the performances of Watford star Nestory Irankunda this summer.
The 20-year-old has already lit up the World Cup after scoring Australia’s opening goal in their impressive 2-0 win against Turkey in Vancouver.
His performances for Watford over the last season have already placed him firmly on clubs’ radars, with the Hammers among those potentially looking to do a deal.
Former West Ham scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that the East London club have been tracking Irankunda and will keep an eye on his World Cup displays.
Irankunda’s problem was never his ability to score or his shot power, but his ability to play wing. In truth, he is best as an undersized striker in a formation featuring two strikers. It is not an easy profile t place at a lot of clubs, especially at Bayern Munich, which never uses a formation like that.
Spurs want Tonali (ESPN)
Tottenham Hotspur might make a run at Newcastle United’s Sandro Tonali:
Tottenham Hotspur have entered the race to sign Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali, according to Fabrizio Romano. The Italy international, 26, is wanted by Spurs boss Roberto De Zerbi, after the club avoided relegation last season, but he is likely to face strong competition from the likes of Manchester City, Arsenal, Juventus and AC Milan, who all hold a historic interest in the player. Tonali’s future at Newcastle is increasingly uncertain, with his contract set to expire in two years’ time, and this summer may well be the Magpies’ final chance to get a fee of around £80 million.
