The Houston Texans officially signed former UConn kicker Chris Freeman on Wednesday. This comes after the former Husky attended the team’s two-day rookie minicamp at the beginning of May and worked out for the franchise last week.
In Freeman’s collegiate career, he played four seasons (2020-2023) with Indiana and spent his final two years with Connecticut (2024-2025). In the Huskies’ 2025 campaign, the kicker drained 23 of 26 field goals (88.5%) and nailed a perfect 52 of 52 extra points, racking
up a combined total of 121 points. Additionally, Freeman set a new program record of 12 consecutive made field goals in the 2025 stretch.
Between his two runs with UConn, the Indiana native accumulated 230 points, placing him at No. 3 on Connecticut’s all-time total points by a kicker. Freeman also ranks No. 1 with an 82.7 field goal percentage and ties for No. 1 with Noe Ruelas and Chad Christen with a 100% extra point percentage.
During the Huskies’ 2026 Pro Day, Freeman did not disappoint and showcased his pinpoint accuracy. The former Indiana Hoosier drilled 13 of 14 (92.9%) field goals, with his longest being a 65-yard kick. The only attempt he missed was a 63-yard field goal.
In Baltimore, Joe Fagnano has solidified his place with the Ravens after his record-setting season with the Huskies. He beat out fellow rookie Diego Pavia for the roster spot and got an extended look in their most recent preseason game, tossing a touchdown and an interception while completing 22 of 28 pass attempts.
