Several championships have changed hands in WWE over the last few weeks as the promotion gets ready for WrestleMania 42, which takes place on the weekend of April 18 & 19 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
The Irresistible Forces won the women’s tag team championship from RHIYO on the Feb. 27 episode of SmackDown. AJ Lee defeated Becky Lynch the next night at Elimination Chamber to become the new women’s Intercontinental champion. Penta won the men’s Intercontinental championship from “Dirty” Dominik
Mysterio on the March 2 episode of Raw thanks to Danhausen’s curse. The biggest title change of them all was Cody Rhodes winning the WWE championship from Drew McIntyre later that week (Mar. 6) on the blue brand.
At least two more titles will be on the line during tomorrow night’s (Mar. 20) episode of SmackDown. Not only are the Bella Twins getting their automatic title match against Nia Jax and Lash Legend for women’s tag team gold, but GM Nick Aldis announced last night that Damian Priest & R-Truth will get their shot at the MFTs WWE tag team championship.
Some of the other matches and segments scheduled for SmackDown this week include Jacob Fatu vs. Drew McIntyre, Kit Wilson calling out Jelly Roll, Fraxiom vs. Motor City Machine Guns, and an appearance from the freshly heel turned Randy Orton.
Do you think WWE is done shuffling around championships between now and WrestleMania 42, or could there be another title change coming as soon as tomorrow night on SmackDown? Let me know who you think is winning these title matches in the comments below, Cagesiders.
