Rick Pitino has prioritized the transfer portal in his construction of the Red Storm roster in his tenure, but that doesn’t mean he is neglecting the high school circuit.
Four-star shooting guard Adam Oumiddoch
announced his commitment to St. John’s on Wednesday afternoon, according to multiple reports. The Overtime Elite prospect is ranked as the 45th-best prospect in his class according to Rivals and the 53rd-best among 2026 recruits according to 247Sports. The Arlington, Virginia native chose the Red Storm over offers from Illinois, LSU, Oregon, and Villanova.
Oumiddoch becomes the fourth consensus four-star recruit to land at St. John’s since Rick Pitino was hired in 2023, joining Simeon Wilcher, Jaiden Glover, and Kelvin Odih. 247Sports lists Oumiddoch as the second-highest ranked high school prospect to commit to St. John’s since 2000, behind Wilcher.
A gifted three-level scoring threat with a crafty handle, Oumiddoch is off to a scorching start in his first three games of this Overtime Elite league season. The 6-foot-5 shooting guard ranks second in the league in scoring with 31.0 points per game and shooting 63.3 percent from inside the arc, 42.1 percent from three, and 90.9 percent from the free-throw line.
“I chose St. John’s because of how I went to the visit and it automatically felt like home,” Oumiddoch told On3 contributor Joe Tipton, “Rick (Pitino) told me from a development standpoint I’m going to leave there the best version of myself and that’s all I want.”
After Oumiddoch’s commitment, St. John’s has ten scholarship players on their roster for the 2026-27 season, with five open slots available.
