Manchester City welcome Liverpool to the Etihad Stadium as the look to close the gap on leaders Arsenal. City can move to within four points of the Gunners with victory over the Mersey Reds and the Blues
will be confident given the form of the team against Liverpool’s poor recent form.
This is the last Premier League match before the final international break of 2025 and the Blues will be hoping to go into the break with another three points against one of their biggest rivals.
As usual, our team are here to give us their views and opinions on the match. Here’s what we think this week.
Will
City were good for the majority of Wednesday’s game against Borussia Dortmund, but Liverpool are a different beast.
Arne Slot’s side will cause issues going forwards, but I also expect City and Erling Haaland to wreak havoc down the other end.
Expect a high scoring game and a victory for the Blues!
City 4-2 Liverpool
Thomas
After an extremely poor spell, LFC have secured consecutive victories at Anfield against Villa and Real Madrid. City have an extremely in-form Erling Haaland, along with Phil Foden coming off a UCL double. This has been an intense rivalry, and I expect that to continue. Come on City!!!
City 3-1 LFC
Pete
I hate this fixture, however, I think this time around, City will prevail. I’m going for a very narrow victory.
City 1-0 Liverpool
What happened against Dortmund
The Blues cruised to victory over the German side, with Erling Haaland scoring again against his former club. Saul, Will and Thomas all went for 3-1 and were so close to a perfect score, until Rayan Cherki popped up and spoilt it for them. Pete went for a very conservative 2-0 and the wait for a perfect score continues.
Here’s the table:
