Since the All-Star Break, Bryson Stott has been one of the better hitters in the game. His 1.6 fWAR is third in the game amongst hitters, behind only Pete Crow-Armstrong and Jackson Merrill, his 163 wRC+ tenth among all qualified hitters during that same time. It has made his overall numbers look much better on the season and brought about another round of an interesting question:
The chances of teams offering extensions prior to a CBA coming together are probably nil as teams want to see what the financial
landscape of the future looks like, yet locking up Stott could also offer a modicum of financial stability for that future. Getting into comparisons would be foolhardy as there aren’t really many comps to what Stott can offer, but dig hard enough and you could probably find one.
We’ll check back on the results later in the week.
