As much as there is to love, there are two intentionally absent names who are the most critical elements of a successful campaign in 2026: Jaxson Dart and Cam Skattebo, the frat-boy wild cards capable of either ushering in a new era of success in East Rutherford or tanking everything through their own foolishness. It’s unclear how much their penchant for stupidity is real or played up for the camera, but they are exceedingly
good at raising eyebrows.
To mesh that approach to football with two guys running on vibes is a powder keg. It’s not just simply that they’re willing to hurt themselves, but this loose approach to football is very difficult to manage. Once freedom and personality run supreme, it can be very difficult to pull that all in, and let it fester too long as a team can pull itself apart as everyone is looking out for No. 1 over everything else.

So as new Giants staffers settled in, Nagy queued up clips to remind Dart that visits to the blue tent — in the preseason, in his first start and repeatedly through the season — compromise his availability. The goal is not to eliminate Dart’s confidence and swagger. But the Giants are working to hone their young quarterback’s risk-reward calculus.
“You can’t just say, ‘Don’t run the football here, because you could get hurt’ — you have to show him the evidence,” said Nagy. ” ‘Where did you take the extra hits? Was it necessary?’ You have to show them clips.”

Five injuries to monitor. Malik Nabers, WR, New York Giants. No injury has made more offseason headlines than Nabers’. The Giants’ star receiver tore his right ACL in Week 4 of the 2025 season and underwent surgery to repair the ligament, as well as the damage to his meniscus, a month later. But this past spring, Nabers had to undergo a second procedure on the same knee — a sign that his recovery was likely not going well.
Nabers was a highly impactful rookie: 109 catches on 170 targets for 1,204 yards in only 15 games. His evident ascent to the Giants’ No. 1 receiver role was a contributing factor in the team’s willingness to let Wan’Dale Robinson leave in free agency after a strong 2025 season. For depth, the Giants have added tons of veteran dart throws — Calvin Austin III, Darnell Mooney, JuJu Smith-Schuster, Braxton Berrios and even Odell Beckham Jr. — in the hope that someone will be able to fill Robinson’s snaps. If Nabers has to miss regular-season time, the Giants’ receiving core might be one of the oldest and least effective in the league.

New York Giants: Charlie Bullen, outside linebackers/run game coordinator. John Harbaugh has always had an eye for coaching talent, and it speaks well of Bullen’s potential that he was retained from the previous coaching regime and even got an expanded role as run game coordinator. His position group already featured Brian Burns, Abdul Carter and Kayvon Thibodeaux; the team also drafted versatile defender Arvell Reese in the spring. Bullen will have every opportunity to show his impact on the defense.

The Giants are set to play 15 games on artificial turf fields next season. The Tennessee Titans are the only other team that will play as many games on turf. The Dallas Cowboys, Minnesota Vikings, and New Orleans Saints will play the second-most games on turf, with 13 each.
