Sad news spreading around the wrestling world today (March 25), with multiple people and promotions sharing about the death of Daniel Moody, who wrestled on the independents as DJ Pringle and was the only surviving member of WWE Hall of Famer Paul Bearer’s immediate family.
Coastal Wrestling Alliance was the first, posting Tuesday evening that Moody died on Monday night (March 23):
It is with a heavy heart that we share this news. Daniel Moody, DJ Pringle, known by many names both in and out of the
locker room and at shows has passed away last night. We want to wish our deepest condolences to the family and we are praying for you.
Soon after that, Steve Stasiak of Book Pro Wrestlers offered a longer remembrance:
Daniel Moody, known to many in wrestling as DJ Pringle, has passed away.
Daniel was the son of Paul Bearer — a man whose voice, presence, and character became part of wrestling history forever. And like so many second-generation names, Daniel carried that connection with him, while also being his own person in the wrestling world.
For those who met him, worked with him, or simply followed along over the years, this one hits on a different level. There’s history there. There’s family there. And there’s a bond to the business that never really leaves.
Moments like this remind you how small the wrestling world really is… and how deep those roots go.
We send our thoughts, prayers, and respect to Daniel’s friends, family, and everyone connected to him — especially those who knew him beyond the name and the legacy.
Rest in peace, Daniel.
Bearer (real name William Moody, aka Percy Pringle III) died in 2013, having lost wife Dianna to breast cancer complications in 2009. Daniel’s brother Michael died in September of 2014, just months after they’d inducted their father into the WWE Hall of Fame.
No information or cause of death has been shared about the 39-year-old Moody’s passing, but Wrestling Observer did discover some context:
A GoFundMe campaign notes that Daniel Moody went into the hospital for a procedure in November 2025 and suffered a “major health crisis.” He had been placed in long-term care after that.
On an Undertaker Facebook fan page, a fan named Sandra wrote that she had been in contact with Daniel last year and said he “sounded great” before his health emergency.
“I don’t even know what to say….I am stunned and heartbroken to report to you all that Daniel Moody, the last son of Bill Moody (Paul Bearer) has passed away,” she wrote. “I just had a nice conversation with him last September where he sounded great and was very proud of his continued sobriety. My deepest condolences go out to his loved ones. Please keep his family in your hearts and prayers.”
Our hearts go out to Daniel’s friends and the extended Moody family. May he join his father, mother, and brother in peaceful repose.
