Since the AFC North was formed in 2002, the Cleveland Browns have not won a division title. The last time they won a division title was in 1989 when they were in the AFC Central. The AFC North has always been extremely competitive, with one or multiple teams being true Super Bowl contenders every season. During the last 20+ seasons, the Browns have gone through so many changes and so much heartbreak, so it’s interesting to wonder when the day will come when they finally get that division title.
With
the team’s planned move to a new stadium in Brook Park in 2029, which is more likely to happen first: winning the AFC North division or playing its first game in the new stadium?
While a division title in 2026 appears unlikely due to uncertainty at quarterback, the team’s chances could improve in 2027 and 2028 if a talented starter emerges or is acquired. Ultimately, it comes down to how the rest of the division performs. The Baltimore Ravens are consistently contending for the playoffs, and the Cincinnati Bengals will always be competitive with Joe Burrow at the helm. It’s also been a long time since the Pittsburgh Steelers were below .500 and not contending for the playoffs. It will be a tough challenge for Cleveland to come out on top.
Let me know what you think in the comments – What’s more likely: Cleveland wins the AFC North first, or relocates into a new stadium first?
