The NFL season is fast approaching and that means it’s last impressions for players looking to make final rosters, or at least grab a practice squad spot. Final cuts come tomorrow, so let’s check in with the Syracuse alums.
Arizona Cardinals: Trishton Jackson and Garrett Williams
Williams remains on the sidelines. Jackson was placed on IR by Arizona with a thumb injury.
Atlanta Falcons: Matthew Bergeron
Bergeron still has not played this preseason, but is anticipated to start for the Falcons.
Cleveland
Browns: Andre Szmyt
Szmyt stayed perfect on field goal attempts as he hit the game-winner from 37 yards. Even if he doesn’t win the job in Cleveland, he might get another opportunity right away.
Dallas Cowboys: Justin Barron and Alijah Clark
Both guys were in the lineup together and Barron had 6 tackles with Clark contributing 3. The two Orange earned a post-game shout-out from their Head Coach.
Detroit Lions: Jackson Meeks
Meeks didn’t have a reception (only one target) in the Lions’ loss to the Texans.
Indianapolis Colts: Zaire Franklin and Max Mang
Franklin has not played as he works back from offseason ankle surgery and apologies to Max for missing him previously. He has appeared in one gameon special teams for the Colts.
Jacksonville Jaguars: LeQuint Allen
Allen did not play this week and it seems like he’s securing a spot on the Jaguars.
LA Chargers: Oronde Gadsden and Marlowe Wax
Gadsden had 3 receptions for 46 yards and a touchdown. Wax had 6 tackles, a sack and 2 QB hits as he continues to make a strong case to stick on the final roster.
Miami Dolphins: Iffy Melifonwu
Melifonwu had two tackles this week against Jacksonville.
New Orleans Saints: Fadil Diggs
Diggs made 2 tackles against Denver.
New York Jets: Andre Cisco and Kingsley Jonathan
Cisco didn’t play this week, but Jonathan had one tackle against the Eagles.
Philadelphia Eagles: Kyle McCord
McCord went the entire way and didn’t seize the opportunity after going 15-35 for 136 yards and an interception. Philadelphia traded for Sam Howell on Sunday which means McCord is either heading to the practice squad or another team.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Riley Dixon and Sean Tucker
Tucker had 3 carries for 2 yards and 1 reception for 1 yard against Buffalo. Dixon averaged 45.7 yards on 3 punts.
We’ll keep an eye out for more news as the NFL season approaches.
