What is the story about?
The trial for former Portland Trail Blazers head coach Chauncey Billups has been pushed back from November, 2026 to March, 2027. The NBA star and five-year coach was indicted for federal gambling charges in October, 2025. Legal proceedings have been underway since then, with Billups out on bond and awaiting trial.
KGW TV reported the news on the delay, citing March 8th, 2027, as the date scheduled for jury selection.
Billups is accused of participating in rigged poker games, also of providing information
on the Trail Blazers tanking plans during the 2023 season to gamblers, allowing them to weigh bets accordingly.
