It’s only fitting that Caleb Love will be getting inducted into the Ring of Honor on Valentine’s Day.
The former UA guard will have his name added to the rafters inside McKale Center during halftime of
Saturday’s game between the top-ranked Wildcats and No. 16 Texas Tech. He’ll be the 35th men’s basketball player to be enshrined, the third who has played under Tommy Lloyd.
“I think this is a really cool thing, Caleb has a special place in my heart,” Lloyd said Thursday in announcing the honor. “For Caleb Love to be inducted in the Ring of Honor on Valentine’s Day, which just happens to be the date the state of Arizona was officially founded, on Feb. 14, 1912, that’s a lot.”
Love, who played for Arizona from 2023-25, qualified for the Ring of Honor by winning Pac-12 Player of the Year in 2023-24. He averaged 18 points, 4.8 rebounds and 3.4 assists that season, leading the Wildcats to a conference regular season title in their last year in the league.
In two seasons with the UA Love averaged 17.6 points per game and made 190 3-pointers, which is tied for 8th-most in school history. His 98 triples in 2024-25 tied for 5th-most in school history, and that included his miraculous 60-foot shot against Iowa State at McKale to force overtime.
Undrafted after finishing his college career with 2,762 points, which ranks 25th in Division I history, Love signed with the Portland Trail Blazers and has emerged as one of the top rookies in the NBA. He’s averaging 11.3 points in 44 games, with only one start, getting to 20 points on eight occasions.
