The Miami Dolphins have reset their roster this offseason, with the wide receiver position one of the most highly turned-over position groups. Gone are players like Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle, leaving veteran players like Malik Washington and free agent additions Jalen Tolbert and Tutu Atwell to headline the depth chart. Unless, that is, a rookie steps up and takes the mantle as wide receiver one.
Miami selected three wide outs during the 2026 NFL Draft, including two in the third round. The first

Douglas made the most of his second year at Texas Tech after transferring from Florida. He served as the team’s top receiver, and he used his combination of size and speed to find success – and establish himself as a second-day draft prospect. He did have a drops issue, and he can learn to use his size better, but his 2025 performance was enough to earn Second-Team All-Big12 honors, a spot in the Senior Bowl, and a Scouting Combine invite.

Douglas is a long, slender outside target with good production but uneven tape. He has enticing moments, showcasing his catch radius/ball skills on fades and deep throws. Douglas’ focus drops and an inability to win contested catches at a high enough rate can’t be overlooked, though. He shows quick acceleration for a tall receiver, but his top-end speed is relatively non-threatening to defenses. Douglas can expect to be crowded by NFL cornerbacks and forced to prove he can uncover. There are flashes to build on, but he’ll have to battle to make a roster as a backup.

2026 expectations
The sky is the limit for Douglas with the Dolphins this year. After years of Miami relying on smaller receivers, wanting to use speed to create separation, they have gone for size this year – but he brings plenty of speed as well. This summer, the Dolphins have to focus on getting Douglas off the line when he is pressed, something defenses will do a lot to him until he proves he can beat it, but the potential is there for Douglas to have a major role in the offense. Will he establish himself as a wide receiver one this year, or will he serve as a rotational piece behind someone like Washington? This summer will provide us with the initial signals as to who Douglas will be for Miami.
