As Tyson Fury heads towards a showdown with Anthony Joshua before 2026 is out, fellow British heavyweight Dave Allen raises his hand to be an interim fight for Fury before he squares off with Joshua. Allen takes on Filip Hrgovic this weekend in Doncaster and tells Sky Sports that he’s hoping his performance propels him into serious consideration for Fury, win or lose.
“If I beat Hrgovic, Tyson Fury is getting called out,” Allen told Sky Sports. “100 percent. Even if I lose to Hrgovic but put a good
fight up, I want the Fury fight.”
Allen, who goes on to admit that he has a task in front of him in Hrgovic, says he’s really up for this weekend’s action and believes all the pressure is on his opponent and that all that’s really expected of himself is to show up and do his best.
As for the fight itself, Allen says Hrgovic will be surprised that his speed and skill is actually better than he thinks, and will be looking to utilize those this to catapult him into a bigger fight in the neat future.
