Happy first week of the college football season. We are a week away from seeing Carolina football take the field for the first time under BIll Belichick, and just a few months away from seeing if Hubert Davis can help the Tar Heels get things done on the basketball court. There’s nothing better than Carolina athletics kicking off for the season, because opportunity for success is right there for each and every team in Chapel Hill. Speaking of opportunity, we are looking for writers to join the Tar Heel Blog
staff this season as we continue to try and improve and expand our coverage of Carolina sports, and would love for you to join the team if you have ever considered writing about UNC.
These openings are remote, contract roles compensated with monthly stipends.
What do these roles entail?
The writers will be responsible for writing two posts per week about the Tar Heels. The posts can be breaking news, recap, original analysis, or any other UNC-related topics approved by the THB editors.
Our best candidates will:
- Have a passion for the Tar Heels and will be already familiar with Tar Heel Blog.
- Have writing experience — experience writing about sports and/or UNC is a bonus.
- The ability to cover UNC football and basketball — other sports are a plus.
- The ability to self-edit and write clean copy.
- Be reliable and consistent.
What do I do if I’m interested?
Please submit a cover letter detailing why you’re the best person for the role and at least two writing samples to banderson1011@gmail.com. Vox Media, SB Nation, and Tar Heel Blog are committed to bringing you coverage of the Tar Heels from a diverse array of voices and perspectives. If your experience and background do not perfectly align with every single thing we’re looking for, but you believe you have the ability to thrive in this role, we encourage you to apply.
