LSU volleyball finished their non-conference slate with a win and a loss in Coral Gables this week. LSU lost to Miami (FL) 3-1 on Thursday before beating Tulsa 3-2 on Friday. With the results, LSU finishes non-conference play 5-4.
LSU gave Miami (FL) their first win of the season and allowed the Hurricanes to snap a 20-set losing streak in their 3-1 loss. Miami won the first set 25-20 and outhit LSU .281-.111. The Hurricanes won set two 25-19 and outhit LSU .214-.029. LSU dominated set three 25-12
and outhit Miami .310 to -0.026. LSU lost set four 25-20 and got outhit .265-.184. Overall, Miami outhit LSU .173-.156. OH Jurnee Robinson led the team in kills with 19. S Lauren Brooker had a double-double and led the team in assists with 36 and digs with 11.
LSU took down Tulsa 3-2 for perhaps their best win of the non-conference season. LSU won set one 25-20 and outhit Tulsa .321-.097. Tulsa took set two 25-21 and outhit LSU .237-.143. The Golden Hurricane won set three 25-23 and outhit the Tigers .255-.190. LSU won set four 25-20 and dominated the hitting .478-.167. LSU finished things off 15-10 in the final set and outhit Tulsa .133-.038. Overall, LSU outhit Tulsa .245-.176. OH Jurnee Robinson had a double-double with a team-high 25 kills and an additional 12 digs. S Lauren Brooker had a double-double of her own with a team-high 43 assists and an additional 14 digs. L Kiley Brooks led the team in digs with 19.
LSU moves to 2-6 all-time against Miami (FL) and 1-1 all-time against Tulsa. LSU opens SEC play Wednesday, September 23, at 7:00 p.m. in the PMAC against Alabama. The game will be broadcast on SECN+.
