The SEC announced the game time for the SEC opener between the No. 10 Texas Longhorns and the Florida Gators in Gainesville at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium on Oct. 4 with kickoff set for 2:30 p.m. Central on ABC or ESPN.
The conference will release the TV network no later than six days before the game.
It’s only the second trip to Gainesville for the Longhorns after Texas notched a 26-0 win over Florida to end the 1940 season.
Last year’s 49-17 victory by the Horns moved the all-times series to 3-0-1, including a 7-7 tie in the first-ever meeting in Austin in 1924.
Texas is entering a bye week coming off a 55-0 win over Sam Houston in Austin on Saturday and will head to Gainesville with wins in 11 of its last 12 true road games, including nine straight conference road wins, a streak that dates back to the 2022 season.
Florida will open SEC play at 1-3 and reeling following consecutive losses to South Florida, LSU, and Miami, putting head coach Billy Napier’s job in jeopardy with his record now at 20-22 over three-plus seasons in Gainesville.
