Commanders owner Josh Harris was having a blast on Saturday during a fan rally advancing their Sunday game against the Indianapolis Colts in London.
Harris got on top of the bar to speak to the enormous crowd of Commanders fans at the event. He bought everyone there not one round of beers but two.
He also addressed the media members on-site covering the game.
The topic of the Commanders logo came up, following up a report on social media discussing Washington’s preference to add the spear and “W” to their
permanent logo as early as 2027.
Zach Cohen posted original report on X/Twitter on Friday morning.
Here’s what Harris had to say about it.
“I like the spear. What can I say?” Harris told on-site reporters. “It brings everything together a little bit. It brings the special forces and the Native Americans and the Roman Gladiators, so I like the spear.”
Harris said that while wearing a hat with the spear and ‘W’ logo on it, which will be featured on their alternate “Raise Hail” uniforms this season.
While he stopped short of confirming the report that the permanent logo will be updated. Both ESPN and The Athletic confirmed, via unnamed sources, that the Commanders would prefer to do so. As ESPN’s John Keim reported, making the permanent logo change is not a done deal.
That falls in line with what Harris has tried to do with the Commanders since taking over as principle owner
“Everyone is enjoying what we’re doing, which is embracing the past as much as we can, in a respectful way,” Harris said. “We’re going to keep looking at how we keep doing that.”
As previously mentioned, this Commander rally went off. Here are some videos from the event, including Harris’ involvement:
