Operating within the new 105-man scholarship limit for the first time, the roster-building process for the Texas Longhorns looks different than it ever has before with multiple late additions for the 2026 season, including the Friday commitment from Brown Brown Bears transfer cornerback Nick Hudson.
The
5’10, 175-pounder from Pearland Shadow Creek has one season of eligibility remaining.
After redshirting in 2022, Hudson played 136 snaps on defense across 10 games in 2023, recording 18 tackles (12 solo tackles) and a half sack. As a redshirt sophomore, Hudson played a career-high 529 snaps in starting all 10 games, notching 29 tackles (24 solo) while leading the Ivy League with 13 pass breakups. In coverage, Hudson allowed four touchdowns on 13.5 yards per reception, but still posted the best coverage grade of his career. In 2025, Hudson only played 112 snaps over seven games, including just 19 snaps over the final three games.
At Texas, Hudson will provide roster depth while occupying a spot that previously would have gone to a preferred walk on.
