According to numerous reports, Steelers star linebacker T.J. Watt was hospitalized on Wednesday after experiencing “lung discomfort” at Pittsburgh’s practice. Adam Schefter of ESPN has said that the injury was sustained while Watt was receiving treatment at the team’s facility prior to the Wednesday practice. The 31-year-old remained hospitalized Thursday — missing all Steelers activities.
The Steelers are set to the play the Miami Dolphins on Monday Night Football this week, and if Watt were to miss the contest, that would be a major blow to their chances of securing the victory against the surging South Florida squad.
Watt has 53 tackles and 7 sacks on the year. He has added three forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and an interception as well.
In his 9 seasons with the Steelers, Watt has been named to the Pro Bowl seven times, while being named a First Team All-Pro four times. His 115 career sacks place him 26th on the all-time list.
Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin is set to address the media following his team’s practice today, so we will continue to keep you updated on Watt’s injury status as news regarding this major story continues to filter in.
