Filip Hrgovic says he’s ready for Moses Itauma after today’s one-sided and relatively easy win over Dave Allen.
Hrgovic (20-1, 15 KO) was asked about the fight, which has been buzzing about in rumors for a while now, and the possibility of doing it in August, which is when Itauma is slated to return.
Hrgovic said that as long as he is good physically on a check after this fight, he’ll be ready.
“I have always told you, I will fight anyone in the division. Moses or anyone,” he said. “If I’m healthy,
and I look like I am, no problem for me. I need a few days to rest. I’ve never run from anyone. Moses will never reach the promised land.”
Queensberry’s George Warren confirmed that the company has their eye on the matchup, too.
“When Filip signed with Queensberry, he contracted with us on the basis that that was one of the options we could put to him,” Warren said. “As he said, he’s got a slight nick on his eye, has to make sure that’s OK. Moses is booked for August, and as soon as we’re back in the office next week, that’s my job, to try and get that fight made.
“If Moses is going to be a world champion, which is what he wants to be, and Filip wants to be a world champion, which is what he wants to be, they’ll have to get it on at some point. So let’s get on with it now.”
The 21-year-old Itauma (14-0, 12 KO) is seen as the top rising young star in heavyweight boxing, and is coming off of a fifth round stoppage win over Jermaine Franklin on March 28.
