
Iowa Cubs
The Iowa Cubs grounded the Las Vegas Aviators (Athletics), 9-6.
Starter Antonio Santos lasted four innings and gave up three runs on six hits, although one of the six hits was unearned. Santos struck out eight and walked three.
Riley Martin gave up a two-run home run to Daniel Susac in the bottom of the fifth, but got the win anyways Iowa scored two in the top of the sixth. Martin’s final line was two runs on three hits over two innings. He did not walk nor strike anyone out.
Catcher Moisés Ballesteros
hit a solo home run in the top of the fifth. It was his 13th Bally blast on the year. Ballesteros was 1 for 3 with a walk.
Left fielder Forrest Wall has been destroying the Aviators all week and tonight he came a triple shy of the cycle, going 4 for 5 with a double and a solo home run in the eighth. He also stole a base. It was Wall’s second home run in the Cubs organization and sixth overall. Wall scored three times and drove home three.
Center fielder James Triantos was 2 for 5 with an RBI triple and a sacrifice fly. He had the two RBI.

Knoxville Smokies
The Knoxville Smokies unshackled themselves from the oppressive yoke of the Birmingham Barons (White Sox), 11-1.
Erian Rodriguez cruised to an easy win with all that offensive support, allowing just one run on four hits over 5.2 innings. Rodriguez walked three and struck out two.
For those of you asking what happened to left fielder Jordan Nwogu’s power, Nwogu hit his first home run of the season with a man on in the fifth inning. Nwogu went 3 for 4 with a walk and two runs scored.
First baseman BJ Murray Jr. doubled twice in a 2 for 6 game. One of his doubles plated two runs as part of a five-run fifth inning. Murray also stole a base and scored twice.
Center fielder Jaylen Palmer was 3 for 5 with a double and two steals. Palmer scored one and drove in one run.
Second baseman Corey Joyce went 3 for 5 with a walk. He scored three times and had one run batted in.
Catcher Pablo Aliendo was 3 for 5 with an RBI double in the eighth inning.
Shortstop Jefferson Rojas went 2 for 5 with a walk and two runs scored.
Third baseman Reivaj Garcia was 2 for 4 with a two-run double in the seventh and a walk. Garcia scored once.
Knoxville had 21 hits in this game and everyone in the lineup had at least one.
South Bend Cubs
The South Bend Cubs were swept in a six-game series by the Peoria Chiefs (Cardinals), 6-3.
Starter Yenrri Rojas took the loss after giving up five runs as a part of a six-run sixth inning. The final line on Rojas was five runs on six hits over 5.1 innings. Rojas walked two and struck out two.
South Bend had three hits in this game, all singles. Shortstop Rafael Morel was 1 for 3 with a walk. He scored on a balk in the first inning.
Second baseman Alexis Hernandez had an RBI single in the first inning. He was 1 for 3 with a walk.
Myrtle Beach Pelicans
The Myrtle Beach Pelicans were drilled by the Fayetteville Woodpeckers (Astros), 12-3.
Ronny Lopez started and took the loss after getting hammered for seven runs on two hits over 3.2 innings. Six of those seven runs came in a nine-run fourth inning. Lopez walked five and struck out two.
Right fielder Eli Lovich had a two-run double in the second inning. He was 1 for 4 and scored once.
Left fielder Jose Escobar went 2 for 4 with a double.
