Bayern Munich manager Vincent Kompany knows the importance of winning the Bundesliga, but if everything breaks right and the team is able to clinch on Sunday, the head coach will not to be too fixated too much on it just yet.
“The title only matters at the end of the season. We’re playing against one of our toughest opponents. Looking at the recent matches, they’ve always been very close. I expect a physical game. Stuttgart are not only technically gifted but also physically very strong. They can
also be dangerous with long balls. They have the second-best attack. It’s also a good game for the fans; there will be a great atmosphere,” said Kompany (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
Kompany was asked about the potential rotation vs. VfB Stuttgart and — as expected — the head coach gave no hints on who might play.
“It’s not really about rotation. We’ve been doing it all season. We’re utilizing the squad because we need to. It’s made us better and always helped us. We’ve got competition. People want to prove themselves for games. Competition is our strength,” Kompany stated. “Lennart Karl, Tom Bischof and Sven Ulreich are out. The rest are available.”
When asked if there would be celebrations if the squad clinched the Meisterschale, Kompany said that would not be the case.
“The players have already said that they’ll turn their attention straight to Leverkusen after the game, regardless of what happens. We can all live with having to wait a bit longer to celebrate. We’ll soon determine how often we celebrate and how big. We want to win against Stuttgart and then keep going. We’re happy to be in this situation,” Kompany said.
