Mizzou soccer closed out its non-conference slate in explosive fashion, putting five goals in the back of the net in its most dominant showing of the 2026 season.
Lana Adams and Rylie Morse each scored twice as the Tigers cruised past Southeast Missouri 5-0 on senior night. Mizzou controlled the match from the opening whistle, scoring three times in the first 23 minutes while holding the Redhawks to just one shot over 90 minutes.
Adams opened the scoring in the 11th minute. The freshman forward found
herself behind the SEMO backline and took on the goalkeeper one-on-one, firing a shot that was tipped off the keeper’s hands and into the net. The goal marked Adams’ second of the season after she scored on a 20-yard rocket against NIU.
“Just got to find a way to put the ball in the back of the net, and that’s what I did, ” Adams said. “Yeah, just got the ball, got in the box, and put it in.”
Ten minutes later, Morse doubled the Tigers’ advantage. The freshman midfielder collected the ball 20 yards from goal and sent a shot into the top-right corner, recording the first goal of her collegiate career. The freshman pairing has emerged as major contributors in their first season in Columbia.
Adams added her second in the 23rd minute. She beat a SEMO center-back to the ball before calmly finishing another one-on-one opportunity with the goalkeeper.
The brace continued what has been an encouraging start to Adams’ freshman season. Playing at the No. 9 position, Adams has provided Mizzou with a consistent attacking presence in the center of the field.
Morse needed 42 more minutes to join Adams with a brace of her own.
In the 65th minute, Morse worked her way around the SEMO defense before firing a shot into the back of the net. Her two-goal performance gave Mizzou another attacking threat to lean on as conference play approaches.
Sophomore midfielder Landis Canada put the finishing touches on the victory in the 73rd minute. Canada curled a shot from outside the box toward the bottom corner, with the ball clipping the post before finding the net. The goal was Canada’s third of the season after she scored twice against NIU.
While Mizzou’s attack stole the spotlight, its defense was just as dominant.
The Tigers outshot SEMO 16-1, putting 10 attempts on target. The Redhawks managed just one shot throughout the match, giving Mizzou its most complete defensive performance of the season.
“When you have a lot of the ball, you don’t give up a lot of opportunities,” Golan said. “The more you have the ball, the more you make them chase it, and when they have the ball, they just want to relieve pressure. Definitely pleased with the performance from that standpoint.”
Senior goalkeepers Riley Wilkerson and Kate Phillips split time between the posts, each playing one half on senior night.
With 10 minutes remaining, sophomore Addison Colangelo entered the match to make her Mizzou debut. With both Wilkerson and Phillips graduating, Colangelo could be in line for an expanded role next season. Her debut was part of a larger changing of the guard for a Mizzou team that will lose 11 seniors after the season.
“In a game like this, when you have an opportunity to get to know Addie for a few minutes just to get her the feel,” Golan said. “Those two won’t be here, and you know she’s going to be the returning one.”
Head coach Stefanie Golan said the senior class has helped transform the program since arriving, both on and off the field.
“Where we are now is way beyond where it was when they started out,” Golan said. “They’ve had a massive impact on that from on the field, off the field as well. The culture, they’re a great group, and we’ll miss them.”
The victory gives Mizzou momentum heading into the most important stretch of its schedule. The Tigers open SEC play Friday, Sept. 11, traveling to Norman to face Oklahoma.
