Gone but not forgotten — former Bayern Munich defender Eric Dier still holds his old club, and former teammates, near and dear to his heart.
“I definitely follow [Bayern games],” Dier explained in comments featured on the FC Bayern website, as captured by @iMiaSanMia. “You automatically keep following any club you have a connection to. That’s how it is with all my former clubs – and Bayern will always be a very special place for me. I still talk to friends there and many of the staff. I hope to be back
in Munich soon to watch a game or visit Säbener Straße.
“I talk to Harry, Serge, and Josh the most – Konny Laimer too. Many players congratulated me after my penalty (against Manchester City); Leon sent me a nice message. I also spoke with Rapha Guerreiro. I’m still in contact with a lot of players.”
And Dier thinks the sky is the limit for his former club this year — provided, of course, they catch a break or two from Lady Luck.
“It’s still early in the season, but FC Bayern have the team, the coach, and the structure to achieve all their goals. In the end, a lot depends on how fit the squad stays — and you also need a bit of luck. I hope they have a very successful season,” Dier continued.
Dier, for his part, is enjoying his time at AS Monaco, where he has been in the starting lineup but is currently working his way back from an injury spell. The Red and Whites are chasing a top-six finish in Ligue 1.
