Khamzat Chimaev appears to have his first middleweight title challenger after French contender, Nassourdine Imavov, turned in a main event showcase Saturday night at UFC Paris.
This weekend was built around Imavov’s middleweight matchup against fellow contender, Caio Borralho. Imavov was not only headlining his second-straight UFC event, but he was competing in front of a wild home crowd. The 185-pound fight was pegged as a No. 1 Contender’s bout and both fighters competed like a UFC title shot was on the
line.
When the dust settled it was Imavov who did more than enough over the course of five rounds to earn a unanimous decision victory to push his current win streak to five. In turn, Imavov is lined up for a potential shot at Chimaev his next time out.
During his post-fight interview Imavov screamed, “I am next!”
Following the conclusion of the main event, Chimaev took to social media to chime in on Imavov’s performance. The newly-minted UFC middleweight champion delivered a simple message to Imavov, but never actually says he’s next. Still, any reaction from the champ is a good reaction when it comes to Imavov’s chances of leap frogging fellow middleweight standout Reinier de Ridder.

“Good fight! Assalamu Alaykum,” wrote Chimaev.
Well, Maniacs? Who gets the first shot at Khamzat’s UFC middleweight title? Imavov or RDR?
Let’s discuss!
