Quick Refresher:
Matt Able is a 6’5” / 190 lb guard from Fort Lauderdale, FL. He’s been a star in workouts all summer having earned, or shared, Player of the Week three times.
- He is Coach Wade’s first high school recruit at NC State, and he’s’ a good one. He is a 4-star recruit on ESPN and Rivals. 247 also has him as 4-stars, but a 5-star composite recruit ranked 28th in the country.
- Having signed one 5-star player helps the staff get involved with other highly ranked players, such as current targets Cole Cloer, Toni Bryant, Qayden Samuels, and Miikka Muurinen.
- He had a solid list of suitors, including Texas, Alabama, Baylor, Tennessee, Va Tech, Wake Forest, Stanford and Miami. He originally signed with Miami prior to their coaching change.
- He is NC State’s 4th highest ranked high school recruit in the internet era, trailing only Dennis Smith, Jr, Calvin Leslie, and Rodney Purvis.
- As a senior at Sagemont Prep he averaged 20.4 points, 5.9 rebounds, 2.9 assists, and 2.1 steals while shooting 40% from 3PT and 81% from the free throw line.
“He [AJ Dybantsa] went for 35, Matt Able went for 40, which is better” – Will Wade
