Mike Santana and Steve Maclin were ready for war to fight over the TNA World Championship in the main event of Sacrifice (Mar. 27, 2026). Unfortunately, Maclin suffered what was almost certainly a concussion within the first few minutes, and the match was waved off.
TNA built a hot feud for Santana and Maclin to finally clash. They hammered each other with aggression. Maclin ran the ropes. Santana was quicker to the draw to land a superkick. Maclin went down, and it was clear that he was knocked silly.
Maclin’s left hand was stiff. Referee Alice Lane was quick on the spot to check on Maclin. They gave Maclin time to recover. When Maclin was back on his feet, the ref stepped in to put up the X signal. Doctors checked on Maclin, and the main event was thrown out.
TNA salvaged the moment by having future contender Eddie Edwards run in to fight with Santana. The champ hit the Spin the Block lariat. Santana set up Edwards on a table outside and landed a frog splash to end the show.
Give credit to the TNA staff for recognizing the danger of the situation and stopping the match for Maclin’s safety. PWInsider’s Mike Johnson had a rapid report on the situation, saying the early, unconfirmed word is that Maclin suffered a concussion. It also passed along that Maclin “seemed coherent backstage but was obviously upset about how things went.”
Whatever the diagnosis, we’re wishing a quick recovery and the best of health for Steve Maclin.
