Bayern keeping eye on Read (Transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano)
It was not all that long ago that we heard Bayern Munich was out on Feyenoord right-back Givairo Read, but Fabrizio Romano checked in to say that the Bavarians will do hold some interest:
🚨🇳🇱 FC Bayern and Manchester City are both still keeping close eye to Givairo Read situation for this summer.
The Dutch right back is on both clubs’ list as one of the options, monitored since December.
It seems unlikely that Bayern Munich would bring in both Nathaniel Brown and Read, but — maybe — the Bavarians
will give it a run?
More likely, however, is that Read is a contingency plan in the event that talks with Eintracht Frankfurt for Brown fall through.
El Mala shoots down Brentford (Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg)
FC Köln star Said El Mala has rejected an offer from Brentford:
🚨❌ BREAKING | Said El Mala and his family have officially informed Brentford now that they do not want to join the club.
This comes despite Brentford’s improved offer of around €50m (€45m fixed plus €5m add-ons), which 1. FC Köln were prepared to accept. #Effzeh
As always reported, El Mala never had an agreement with Brentford. El Mala’s future is now completely open again. @SkySportDE
While Bayern Munich was reportedly interested in El Mala, it seems like a longshot for the Bavarians to get involved again.
Barca scoping Hincapié (ESPN)
FC Barcelona is reportedly considering a pursuit of Bayer Leverkusen’s Piero Hincapié:
Barcelona are considering a move for this summer, according to The Daily Mail. Arsenal signed the versatile defender on loan last summer, which includes a permanent option clause of £45 million. But the Gunners are yet to confirm whether they will trigger that deal, which would see the Ecuador international sign on a five-year deal. As a result, Barcelona are sounding out the possibility of a move as they search for a new left-sided center back.
Leverkusen gets its new manager (Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg)
Bayer Leverkusen hired 42-year-old Spaniard Carles Martínez as its next coach. Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg check in early before the announcement with the news:
🚨💥 Carles Martínez to Bayer 04 Leverkusen – DONE DEAL ✔️
Agreement reached. Free transfer. The announcement is expected this week. Contract until 2028. The 42 y/o stands for attacking football and is highly regarded for his work with both young talents and experienced players.
He will replace Kasper Hjulmand, whose departure is expected to be communicated soon.

Later on Thursday, Hjulmand’s exit from the club was formally announced after news leaked a few weeks ago that he would not be retained:
Finally, Bayer Leverkusen announced the hiring of Martínez:
Plettenberg says Bayern won’t go after Dest (Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg)
According to Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, Bayern Munich is not seriously considering a run at Sergiño Dest:
🚨❌ Rumors linking FC Bayern with Sergino Dest are currently wide of the mark. No talks. No negotiations.
A good player, but currently not a transfer target. Bayern still want to extend Konrad Laimer’s contract, while Josip Stanisic can also play in that position. Nathaniel Brown (verbal agreement), would be another option. In addition, Sacha Boey has not been sold yet. @SkySportDE 🇺🇸
Barcola on the move? (Transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano)
According to a report from transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, Bradley Barcola could leave Paris Saint-Germain this summer with Arsenal, Liverpool, and one other mystery club as potential suitors:
🚨 Movements are expected around Bradley Barcola this summer as reported in May with Arsenal, Liverpool and one more club keen on PSG winger.
Despite fake reports around, the agent of Barcola is Moussa Sissoko already since 2025.
Hmmm….Bayern Munich has been known to have interest in Barcola. That said, no recent reports have linked the Bavarians to the PSG star.
City’s first bid on Anderson rejected by Forest (ESPN)
Nottingham Forest has reportedly turned down the first proposal from Manchester City for England international Elliot Anderson:
Manchester City have had their opening bid for Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson rejected. City have made the 23-year-old their top summer target and have formalized their interest with an official offer. The bid has been turned down by Forest, but City are expected to return with an improved financial package.
