The Denver Broncos offense ran 62 offensive plays and 59 defensive plays on Sunday in the win over the Jacksonville Jaguars
.The inactive players for the game were: Sam Ehlinger, RJ Harvey, Marvin Mims, Kage Casey, Dallon Bentley, Jordan Jackson, and Tyler Onyedim.
The only active player who did not get in the game was Jarret Stidham.
OFFENSE
Bo Nix played every offensive snap. Quinn Meinerz missed two snaps and Alex Palczewski replaced him. The Broncos used six offensive linemen on two plays and Alex Palczewski was
that player. Talanoa Hufanga played as the safety on the three victory formation kneeldowns.
Jonah Coleman, JK Dobbins, and Tyler Badie played 25, 21, and 16 snaps on offense. That is the most equitable running back split I have seen in the years that I have been doing this. Adam Prentice got eight snaps at fullback.
Adam Trautman, Evan Engram, and Nate Adkins played 40, 32, and 23 snaps at tight end. Trautman did not get targetted, despite playing 40 snaps. Nate Adkins had four touches (1 run and 3 catches), to one touch for Evan Engram.
The wide receiver snaps were 45 for Courtland Sutton, 41 for Pat Bryant, 38 for Jaylen Waddle, 13 for Troy Franklin, and 3 for Lil’Jordan Humphrey. Pat Bryant was the primary receiver in week one and he had one target in week two, the same as LJH. Waddle was targetted 10 times and got eight catches on those.
Only two active offensive players did not play on offense, Matt Peart and Alex Forsyth (other than Jarret Stidham).
DEFENSE
Defensively three players took every snap, Hufanga, Patrick Surtain, and Alex Singleton. Riley Moss and Brandon Jones played all but one snap.
At the other starting ILB spot, Justin Strnad played 55 snaps. No other ILB played defensive snaps.
At safety JL Skinner got one snap on defense.
The cornerbacks who have not been mentioned played 40 snaps (Ja’quan McMillian) and 2 snaps (Jahdae Barron). Barron’s lack of playing time is hopefully a function of how good the three CBs in front of him are and not a function of how poor he is developing in his second season.
At outside linebacker Nik Bonitto, Jonah Elliss, Que Robinson, and Dondrea Tillman played 40, 41, 19 , and 18 snaps.
Zach Allen, DJ Jones, Malcolm Roach, Eyioma Uwazurike, and Sai’vion Jones played 48, 25, 34, 27, and 6 snaps. Roach and Robinson combined for the two sacks and for three of the team’s seven QBhits. They also had three of the five TFL that the Bronco D had on Sunday.
SPECIAL TEAMS
The guys who played on 50 percent or more of the special team snaps were Kris Abrams-Draine, Devon Key, Jordan Turner, Karene Reid, and Tycen Anderson. KAD was returning punts in the absence of Mims. Anderson, Key, Skinner, and Turner all had tackles on kick off or punt coverage.
