Let the chaos begin. The transfer portal is officially open and just like almost every other team in college football, Mizzou has plenty of holes to fill on their current roster. In this week’s reacts
question, we asked position should the staff prioritize the most in the transfer portal.
To no surprise, the most important position was the headliner. Mizzou needs to find the right quarterback via the transfer portal.
There have been plenty of key departures with losses to Joshua Manning, Marquis Johnson, Josiah Trotter (NFL Draft), and most notably Beau Pribula. Numerous freshmen have entered the transfer portal as well.
There are key contributors returning as well highlighted by an elite running back duo with Ahmad Hardy and Jamal Roberts. Donovan Olugbode, Marquis Gracial, Nicholas Rodriguez, and Matt Zollers have also announced their returns.
Zollers returning is significant for the future of this program — but due to his inexperience and an underwhelming performance in the Gator Bowl — Mizzou desperately needs to upgrade at the quarterback position if they want to contend for the College Football Playoff next season.
Mizzou has already been searching for a quarterback in the transfer portal. Per reports, Kennesaw State transfer QB Amari Odom will be visiting Columbia on January 7th, and Missouri is in the mix for Florida’s DJ Lagway.
