The Cleveland Browns start against the New York Jets in Week 5 was not what they were looking for. The offense went three-and-out, followed by the defense missing tackles while allowing the home squad to march down the field for 80 yards for the first touchdown of the game.
Down 7-0, the Browns earned their first first down of the week on a short run by RB Quinshon Judkins, but the whistle blew due to starting right tackle Tytus Howard being on his knee with an injury. Howard limped off the field
gingerly and was replaced by Dawand Jones.
Howard was a big addition this offseason, via a trade with the Houston Texans, but has struggled, especially with penalties, early in the year.
In his eighth season, Howard has started all 97 games he’s played in his career. Jones is in his fourth season with the Browns, but has finished each of his last three seasons on injured reserve.
