With three games remaining in the regular season, Missouri is 6-3 (2-3 SEC) and officially eliminated from the 12-team College Football Playoff. After a promising 5-0 start to the season, the Tigers have
lost two out of their last three games to put them out of CFP contention.
Mizzou, however, is still bowl eligible. The Tigers have had a bowl-eligible record in each of the first six seasons under Eli Drinkwitz and they will look for their third straight bowl win this year.
Missouri will be favored in two out of their last three games against Mississippi State and Arkansas — so there’s still an opportunity for the Tigers to finish strong and improve their bowl standing heading into the postseason. Mizzou is still well-positioned to land in an SEC Pool of Six bowl, but a struggling finish could slide them down to the lower-tier bowl games.
As the season heads down the stretch, let’s take a look at the latest bowl projections for the Tigers entering Week 12:
ESPN: Bonagura; Music City vs Nebraska. Schlabach; Duke’s Mayo Bowl vs Duke
CBS: ReliaQuest Bowl vs Iowa
Sports Illustrated: Duke’s Mayo Bowl vs Duke
Saturday Down South: Texas Bowl vs TCU
USA Today: Music City Bowl vs Illinois
Athlon Sports: Duke’s Mayo Bowl vs Virginia
College Football News: Duke’s Mayo Bowl vs Wake Forest
College Football Network: Music City Bowl vs Minnesota
Palm Brackets: Duke’s Mayo Bowl vs Miami
Total count: Mayo (5), Music City (3), ReliaQuest (1), Texas (1)
Mizzou is projected to be Charlotte bound as the Duke’s Mayo Bowl vs an ACC team currently leads the way. Seeing Drinkwitz being dosed in mayonnaise after a win would be something.
