Young talents often speak about the adjustment period that comes with joining a club the size of Bayern Munich, but Tom Bischof’s recent comments highlight something deeper than simple adaptation — they reveal a culture of accountability, mentorship, and relentless standards inside the dressing room.
When asked about the influence of Joshua Kimmich and whether there is such a thing as a “Kimmich mentality,” Bischof didn’t hesitate to emphasize just how much he is learning from the leaders around him.
“Of course, I also learn from Jo (Kimmich), because he’s one of the best in his position. But I could name so many. Jonathan Tah, Leon Goretzka, Aleks Pavlović, Serge Gnabry, Harry Kane, Michael Olise – they all keep an eye on me, support me, and give me tips. That gives me a lot of confidence on the pitch,” Bischof told ranSport (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
It’s a telling response. Rather than pointing to a single guiding figure, Bischof paints a picture of a squad where responsibility for development is shared. Experienced internationals and established stars aren’t distant — they are actively invested in helping the next generation succeed. That kind of environment can accelerate growth in ways training sessions alone never could.
But support at an elite club doesn’t mean comfort. Bayern’s standards are famously unforgiving, and Bischof made clear that encouragement is balanced with honest feedback.
“Sometimes there’s praise, sometimes there’s a few slaps on the wrist. I know the guys want to see you chase after the ball and give 100% on the pitch. Then they’re satisfied. Then the quality with the ball comes into play, which they’ve hopefully already seen,” said Bischof.
That mindset perfectly captures what separates top clubs from the rest. Effort is non-negotiable; talent is expected. Only when the work rate is unquestioned does individual quality truly matter.
For a young player like Bischof, being surrounded by demanding winners could be the most valuable education possible. And if he continues absorbing those lessons, Bayern may well have another mentality monster in the making.
