Oh hey it’s the new away kit. Liverpool’s, if that wasn’t clear. For the 2026-27 season. That actually went last night while everyone in Liverpool was probably sleeping. But the Reds are currently on tour in the United States for pre-season so I guess a late drop is what we get.
Anyhow. It’s white on white, mostly. Unless you want to call the embossed tonal LFC patterning thing it’s got going on light grey on white. And it’s got the old school logo they used on the green third kit last year along
with the Adidas trefoil and the regular sized stripes (the new-look Adidas megachonker stripes remain dumb branding bullshit and make their adult gear look wildly out of proportion and like it’s toddler size I’m not a toddler Adidas I’m an adult and will not be taking further questions on this matter) marking it out as this season’s retro offering.
It’s nice. I like it. It wouldn’t survive if I wore it. I’d get a little mark or stain on some hard to see corner but I’d know it was there and it would ruin it for me. Such is the way with really light clothes. At least for me. Some people must be able to wear them.
Me, I always feel like I’m going to end up next to an exploding mustard truck if I do. And then even if somehow I don’t and it survives for more than five minutes after I put it on I’m spending all day with that in the back of my head waiting for it to happen. And then, let’s be honest, it happens. It always happens eventually.
Like, if you’re a person who can get away with paying £100 or whatever for something like this, how do you do that knowing its projected lifespan before being ruined is maybe 19.8 hours? That you’re really just paying £5 an hour, more or less, to rent a Liverpool shirt before you end up next to an exploding mustard truck? Like basically it’s a rental?
Of course, in our late-stage capitalist hellscape having things we used to own rented to us is kinda just the norm. The thing the techbro oligarch dipshits love. Speaking of techbro oligarch dipshits, those rumours of Jeff Bezos maybe taking a slice of the club the other week really were vile. Like I know there are no good billionaires and that it’s getting close to guillotine o’clock, but on the scale of billionaires (who are all bad) he’s at the most reprehensibly horrid end of the spectrum.
Oh, right. New Liverpool kit. Have a video of it, I guess.
