With former world champion Mike Santana apparently on his way out the door, TNA locked down a different former world champion. TNA announced that they re-signed Rich Swann.
This is a good move for TNA. Not only do they lose the veteran presence of Santana, but TNA recently released Eric Young as well. Swann has value as a mentor for the young
wrestlers coming aboard, such as BDE.
The Daily Star broke the news, and Swann commented about BDE. “I want to see my man’s career through. I want to see him reach the heights that I know he can reach. TNA has always been the spot to show fresh faces and to give fresh faces the opportunity and the platform to really shine and to show what they’ve been working on. And I’ve seen what BDE been cooking up, as the kids say. And I just want to be a part of that.”
This news also is a redemption arc for Swann’s career. After being arrested for disorderly public intoxication in 2024, TNA suspended him. Swann entered a rehab program. He returned to TNA approximately one year later. Swann worked his way back and was rewarded with a world title shot against Santana in April 2026.
Speaking with the Daily Star, Swann’s goals for the future include more gold. “I do still aspire to be the TNA World Champion again. I’d love to see myself as a Grand Slam champion, so that would mean I would have to capture the International championship and the Tag Team Championship. I’ve got a lot of work ahead of me.”
