Real Madrid superstar Vinicius Jr scored a screamer to earn Brazil a point in their first match of this year’s World Cup against Morocco on Saturday, as Endrick watched from the bench as an unused substitute.
Vinicius Jr started on the left wing for Brazil, and was one of the better players on the pitch, despite not being involved for large portions due to Morocco’s large share of possession at times.
After Brahim Diaz assisted Morocco’s opener to put the African side ahead, Vinicius Jr took matters
into his own hands with a brilliant finish after cutting inside from the left to bring Brazil level — equalling Ronaldinho’s World Cup tally.
Vinicius Jr’s duel with Achraf Hakimi largely favoured his former teammate, but he was able to take advantage of the times when the PSG full-back went forward and left space behind.
Vinicius Jr only took one shot, which was the goal, but was able to create two chances for his teammates. He had five touches inside Morocco’s box, which was the most for any player on the pitch.
Brazil will play Haiti next, on June 19, and Vinicius Jr would hope to bring Brazil’s first win of the tournament.
