81’ – Everton counter, Barry holds up the ball and centers for George, his shot is wayward though.
79’ – OMG. Kelleher, Collins and Lewis-Potter all get in each other’s way with the ball sitting in the six yard box and no Everton player close to take advantage. ARGH!
77’ – A game of fine margins. Kayode cuts in and gets into space, fires a shot that comes off Thiago and catches Pickford wrong-footed, Brentford goal, 2-1.
73’ – CHANCE!
Long ball and he gets behind the Bees backline, one-on-one against Kelleher and he chooses not to shoot, two defenders run in and he tries to turn and shoot and it’s saved. Ooof, that was wasted. Triple change coming up for the Blues: Barry, George and Iroegbunam on, and Beto, McNeil and Gana off.
70’ – Jensen had lofted a shot way over and now Gana does the same. McNeil had a shot charged down before that.
Kayode long throw, Tarky wins the first header, and then he has to clamber all over Thiago standing his ground to head it away. Another long throw from Kayode, cleared, cross into the box and Pickford claims it.
67’ – Schade beats Tarky in the middle to a header and that sets off a counter, Thiago to Nelson and Everton fans are horrified as Branthwaite slips and cannot stop them. Poor cross across the box though and Everton survive.
65’ – KDH brings the ball away from his own box, plays a lovely ball down the touchline for Ndiaye to run onto, he cuts in and fires off a shot, deflected and saved! Came off Kelleher’s outstretched boot.
62’ – KDH fouled at the halfline. Garner plays in an almost perfect ball for Beto behind the backline, much like he did in the derby, but Kelleher was quick to it.
59’ – McNeil with a lovely ball for Ndiaye to run onto but the wind catches it and the ball runs away from him. Everton possession has only been 30% in the second half.
55’ – Everton giving the ball away cheaply, cross into the box, Outtara heads down for Schade to shoot, Branthwaite block! Another cross into the box is overhit, and Everton can finally breathe.
54’ – Everton don’t have a good out ball right now so Brentford can turn around and bring it right back every time they lose the ball.
52’ – Two more crosses whipped into the Everton box, both cleared but that’s some sustained pressure from the Bees.
Another clearance and it’s a throw for the Bees. Kayode prepares to take it long, keeps it short and a volleyed cross into the box, Collins header dribbles well wide.
49’ – Now a good cross into the box and both Schade and Thiago looked completely free. Poor start to a half from the Blues once again.
The hosts are keeping the pressure on, and another cross is cut out by Tarky, before McNeil can hoof clear.
47’ – Garner goes in sliding and wins the ball, but a foul is given, and he’s booked too. Outrageous.
Freekick into the Everton box from that, and Collins clanks it off the bar! Pickford looked beaten, but the ball was always rising from the header too.
46’ – Second half underway. Brentford have made a change with Reese Nelson on for Damsgaard, the Dane is one of their key players.
Halftime Thoughts – Strong comeback for Everton after a poor start that saw Brentford take the early lead. Still all to play for, but the Blues have to be feeling good about their chances of winning here.
45+5’ – Halftime whistle, 1-1 at the Gtech Community Stadium.
45+4’ – Another good cross into the box, but Kelleher takes it. Quickly tries to get it to Thiago on the counter but Myko does well to cut it out.
45+1’ – McNeil makes a good move down the right, Garner overlaps and lovely cross into the box, Kelleher does well to grab that with a number of blue shirts around him.
44’ – Dangerous attack for Brentford on the Everton left, cross into the box is very well cut out by Tarky, and now the Blues can counter at pace with Gana, he slips but the Blues still have it, McNeil tries a shot but it’s charged down.

40’ – Good sequence for the Blues. Ndiaye and KDH combine to get the ball clear on the left, and then McNeil nearly finds Ndiaye sneaking in behind the backline but Kelleher is out quick to punch it away. Once Everton are set up in the Bees half they are moving the ball around well.
38’ – Goodness me. That was a dangerous corner, Schade meets the ball, his flicked header is over Pickford and comes back off the bar, red-striped shirt hits the rebound, Pickford point-blank save, ball still pinging around and then Branthwaite blocks again before it’s hoofed clear. Whew…
36’ – Branthwaite sliding challenge gives Kayode another chance to throw deep, but Tarky rises and clears imposingly.
Cross back in from the Everton right, and Myko keeps his eye on the ball and clears, corner.
34’ – Brentford with a quick counter and Everton are stretched, Jensen cuts in from the left and fires off a near-post shot that Pickford does well to get his fingertips to it, corner. Low into the front post, Garner and Schade go for it, off the Bees player for a goalkick.
30’ – Some juicy tackles flying in from both sides, Schade, Outtara, Garner and Gana have all gone in heavily in the last minute or two.
29’ – Another Kayode long throw, Tarky in the thick of things and a foul is given as the Everton captain is fouled on the edge of the box.
27’ – GOAL! Tarky finds O’Brien on the right wing, Lewis-Potter gets in ahead of him but then leans into the bigger JOB who nips in and steals the ball, gives it to Gana on the corner of the box, cross into the six-yard box where Beto is waiting and his header is perfect, 1-1!
22’ – Chance! Ndiaye to KDH in the left channel, his low cross is just a shade too far from a sliding Beto. Ball back into the box, cleared, falls to Gana for a volley, save! Kelleher makes a good save and then another reaction save from Beto as he tries to stab the rebound, it was right at him though. Offside given, that would have been a VAR decision had it gone in.
21’ – Kayode with a long throw into the box, they have five goals from that this season, most in the league. But Everton have won the most aerial duels in the league and they can clear. Brentford are second in that stat, by the way.
20’ – Everton playing into the sun, settling into their away mid-block. Brentford have some of the lowest home possession numbers so they will see some of the ball.
19’ – Branthwaite comes forward with the ball, and from about twenty five yards or so out lets fly.. hits the side netting!
Handbags between Tarkowski and Thiago, both are strong physical presences.
15’ – Bees congregating on the ball every time Everton have it in the attacking half, Blues are pressing them high too when they turn it over.
KDH with a nifty piece of ball control to start a counter, finds McNeil who tries to play in Beto but the defence is awake to that.
12’ – Garner with a lovely tackle to nick the ball off Lewis-Potter and runs away with it, but then Beto is swarmed and loses the ball.
9’ – Ndiaye pounces on a poor clearance and can set up Beto for a shot that is blocked, corner. KDH into the box, a Brentford head meets it and it’s away, poor attempt to put it back into the box and now the Bees can break. Branthwaite with a solid challenge and then good backtracking from Ili wins the ball back.
5’ – Brentford are going long at every chance, the Blues are struggling to control it in the middle.
3’ – Penalty to Brentford. Schade got behind the Blues backline and Pickford out like a flash, the forward gets around him and the England #1 trips him. It’s a clear penalty and VAR confirm the decision.
Thiago steps up, pauses and then hits it to Pickford’s right.. just beats the goalie who had dove the right way. Poor start this for the Toffees, down 1-0.
1’ – Garner passes to Dewsbury-Hall who hoofs it up and under into the Bees, box, but they handle it well.

After a couple of encouraging performances at home, Everton are back on the road again, this time away in London against Brentford.
The Bees sit a spot ahead of the Blues in the table on the same number of points, but with a number of possible paths to European competition, Everton have a genuine chance to get to Europe under David Moyes for the first time in 9 years.
Jack Grealish is done for the season, but Charly Alcaraz has resumed training though he’s not quite ready to be on the bench this weekend.
For Brentford, Aaron Hickey and Vitaly Janelt will not be ready yet, while Rico Henry, Joshua Dasilva, Fabio Carvalho, and Antoni Milambo are longer-term absentees.
