Newcastle United could have a major opportunity to strengthen their squad if Manchester City were relegated from the Premier League. Such a situation could put several players’ futures in doubt, potentially allowing the Magpies to sign top talent. Here are three Manchester City players Newcastle should target if that scenario becomes reality.
Enzo Fernandez
There are many landing spots for Enzo if Manchester City were to get relegated, or even face a definite punishment. Enzo could land at a team like Arsenal or Real
Madrid, but one team that should go after him is Newcastle.
They could definitely use Enzo on their roster; he could improve the CDM spots. Enzo brings a lot of things like scoring goals, assists, and defense, so a move like him could for sure improve the team.
Newcastle would need to be one of the teams to strike first if they really want him. Enzo could land at Real Madrid, so Newcastle would have to strike fast.
Jérémy Doku
Doku could bring a lot of talent to Newcastle’s attack: speed, dribbling, and his ability to control the ball well.
For Newcastle to land Doku would certainly be a difficult task, as there would be many other clubs he would be interested in joining. Newcastle wants players that can deliver in moments, and Doku provides exactly that.
If Manchester City were relegated and Doku wanted to leave, Newcastle should definitely consider going after the star forward. Doku is only 24 years old, so he is a young talent as well. So if Newcastle wants Doku, they need to strike first before any other clubs go after him.
Joško Gvardiol
Gvardiol would be a very valuable signing for Newcastle; he would definitely improve the defence, and he would be alongside Lewis Hall. Gvardiol can play centre-back and left-back, which makes him a very valuable player for many clubs that would be interested.
Gvardiol’s skills make him a very valuable player to Newcastle; he can strengthen their defence and also deliver some crazy shots, and he can help build around the attack.
Gvardiol, being his age and talented, would make him a very hard player to go after, and a high price to pay, and Newcastle would definitely not be the only club going after him.
