Let’s get to the Philadelphia Eagles news and links …
Former Eagles tight end Zach Ertz talks grisly knee injury, rehab, 2026 plans: ‘I don’t want it to be the last play that I have’ – Inquirer The Eagles’ 2023 trip to the Super Bowl was more difficult to stomach than the 2024 season’s, Ertz said, because the wounds were still fresh and many of his former teammates were still on the roster. He’s still plugged into the team and Philly, where his family’s foundation still does much of its community
service, and won’t rule out a return. “I think everyone knows how I feel about that place, that city, in particular,” Ertz said. “I loved it, loved it. And I wouldn’t close that door either by any means. I think it’s worth the conversation, for sure.” Only four tight ends in NFL history have more than his 825 career receptions. But he said surpassing Harold Carmichael’s Eagles mark of 589 catches is “definitely not lost on me.” “I would love him to get it,” Lurie said, “but not at the expense of what we need to do.” Whether Ertz gets a chance to break the record or not, he will eventually be granted the franchise’s greatest honor as a member of the Eagles Hall of Fame. “I love Zach and his legacy is phenomenal and his personhood in Philadelphia is incredible,” Lurie said. “People don’t realize. It’ll come out more when we induct him and we’ll make sure people realize [he was] much more than just the player.”
NFL Mock Draft Roundup: 6 players linked to the Eagles – BGN
The 2026 NFL Draft is just over a week away, and the mock draft industry has largely settled into six players that are getting mocked to the Eagles. It is entirely possible that the Eagles do not draft any of them if given the chance, but these are the most mocked, in no order.
NFL Draft’s 10 biggest steals of all-time, ranked – SB Nation
9) Jason Kelce. Jason Kelce was an undersized center coming out of Cincinnati, who fell to the 191st pick overall as the fourth center drafted. But over his NFL career Kelce put together a Hall of Fame resume, earning six First-Team All-Pro selections. Kelce was also part of the 2017 Philadelphia Eagles team that shocked the New England Patriots to win Super Bowl LII. Certainly his career has entered a new stage, as Kelce shows up almost any time you turn on a television, and the podcast he co-hosts with his brother Travis has transcended the sporting world. But before he became a celebrity, he was one of the biggest NFL Draft steals.
Revisiting the Eagles’ fleecing of the Commanders in the Cooper DeJean trade – PhillyVoice
In other words, in that trade the Eagles got an All-Pro corner, a 2025 breakout edge defender who could have plenty of ceiling ahead of him, and a whole slew of lottery tickets who still have a chance to show something.
Eagles Mock Draft 1.0 – Iggles Blitz
2 – 54 – WR Ted Hurst – Georgia State – 6-3, 206. I’m still of the belief that AJ Brown gets traded so the Eagles will likely want to add someone to the mix. They don’t have to do it this early, but Hurst is too good to pass up. He runs 4.42 and has good size. He’s really good at going up and getting the ball. He led the FBS over the past two seasons with 34 receptions of 20 or more yards. We know the Eagles love to focus on explosive plays so Hurst is a good fit from that perspective. He has good body control, which I really value in receivers. Hurst has strong hands. He’ll need some work, but the Eagles have good depth at WR so he can learn as a rookie. He can be WR2 in the future. He’s got legit size/speed and the skills to go with it.
Ranking 10 options for Eagles in NFL Draft’s second round: Will Howie Roseman draft a WR early? – The Athletic
2) Chris Bell, WR, Louisville. Bell tore his ACL in November, taking some of the shine off a prospect who would otherwise push to be in a higher tier in this draft. Watch him against Miami last season. He’s 6-foot-2 and 222 pounds — when you see him on the field, you’ll think A.J. Brown’s body type — and he looked like he could be that type of physical presence before the injury. Bell had 72 catches for 912 yards and six touchdowns in 11 games last season, finishing second in the ACC in yards per game. He makes plays in the open field. It’s hyperbole (and unfair) to suggest that Bell could be an eventual Brown replacement, but he has the playing style that most replicates Brown among the players to consider. The Eagles have shown a willingness to gamble on injured players, although the medical grade is key. If the medical staff clears him, he would top the list of receivers in this range on my list.
Grading every NFL trade of the 2026 offseason so far – NFL.com
The trade gives the Eagles options if A.J. Brown is moved in a blockbuster trade. While Wicks’ presence doesn’t tip Howie Roseman’s hand, the former Packer, along with the addition of Marquise Brown, gives Philadelphia me cover. Neither can replace Brown’s ability, but they can play the WR2 or WR3 role behind DeVonta Smith. If Philly does trade the star wideout, Roseman will replenish the draft picks shipped to acquire Wicks. The Packers received a good haul for a player who likely wasn’t in the long-term plans and would have likely walked after the season. Two picks for the fourth receiver on the depth chart is solid work for Brian Gutekunst. Green Bay still has Christian Watson, Jayden Reed and Matthew Golden atop the depth chart. It also saved a sliver of cap space it can use when looking to extend Watson and tight end Tucker Kraft.
Eliot Wolf on keeping the door open for A.J. Brown: I’ll keep the door open to anything – PFT
Patriots Executive Vice President of Player Personnel Eliot Wolf knows the questions about trading for Eagles receiver A.J. Brown are not going away, but he’s doing his best not to confirm or deny anything. Asked today whether he’s keeping the door open to trading for Brown, Wolf said he is — but he’s also keeping the door open to adding any other player. “As far as players on other teams, gonna keep the door open to anything that we think may improve our roster, whether that’s with the player you mentioned or other players,” Wolf said.
SB Nation NFL Mock Draft: With the 20th pick the Dallas Cowboys select… – Blogging The Boys
Akheem Mesidor, Edge, Miami. Pass rush has been an issue since the Micah Parsons trade. The Rashan Gary trade helped, but Dallas still needs an injection of talent. Akheem Mesidor fits here because his body size allows for some versatility inside and out, something DC Christian Parker utilizes. Mesidor is also a high-motor player with a deep bag of pass rush moves. [BLG Note: Would love the Cowboys to take a 25-year-old rookie at No. 20.]
NFL mock draft 2026: Commanders select Caleb Downs, S, Ohio State – Hogs Haven
Even with Reese, Bailey, Love, and Styles off the board, the Commanders still had several great options. Carnell Tate was considered to pair with Terry McLaurin, and give Jayden Daniels another weapon. Caleb Downs is the pick, and gives Washington the best safety they’ve had on the roster in a long time.
NFL Draft rumors 2026: NY Giants reportedly among teams looking to trade down – Big Blue View
The New York Giants, with the fifth overall pick, are one of several teams with top 10 selections in the 2026 NFL Draft who are looking to trade down, according to Sports Illustrated NFL insider Albert Breer. Jordan Ranaan of ESPN also reported recently that the Giants are looking to move down from No. 5. Breer wrote that “The problem for those five is finding teams to move up.” This is a topic Big Blue View addressed on Monday when we said the Giants best option at No. 5 might be “to engineer a small trade down to pick up additional draft capital.”
Flyers clinch playoff berth, finally ending 5-year drought – Broad Street Hockey
The Philadelphia Flyers have done it. In a win-and-you’re-in opportunity Monday night against the Carolina Hurricanes, they did not crumble or succumb to the moment. Standing tall and being able to withstand the immense pressure of punching their ticket with a victory, the Flyers were able to do just that. With a 3-2 shootout win over the Hurricanes in front of the thousands of fans who have been hungry for this moment. Desperate to feel this feeling again of being one of the 16 teams who get to have the hockey world tuned into them and on the big stage. And now it is a reality thanks to the multiple heroes of this game. [BLG Note: LET’S GO FLYERS!]
