The #10 Syracuse Orange women finished 4th at last weekend’s ACC Championships in Raleigh, North Carolina. Stanford defended their championship- sweeping each event to finish with 132 points. Virginia and California were the other two teams ahead of Syracuse.
The top finisher for the Orange was the 2V4 boat which came in 2nd behind the Cardinal. Isabelle Sareen was the Coxwain with Harper Anderson, Aicha Abdelaziz, Raina Hartman
and Maddy Gisby the members of the silver-medalist crew.
Ellie-Kate Hutchinson was named an All-ACC First Team selection while Acorn Cassidy and Katia Ustiuzhanina were recognized as Second Team honorees. Now Syracuse will wait for tonight’s NCAA Selection Show, which will air on NCAA.com at 5 p.m. The Orange should receive a bid to this year’s NCAA Championship on Lake Lanier in Georgia. Syracuse has made the last five NCAA Championships with last year’s squad finishing in 12th place.
The #12 Syracuse men finished in 6th place in the Rowe Cup standings at the Eastern Sprints, which was won by Princeton. Placing highest for the Orange was the 2V8 boat with a 3rd-place finish behind Princeton and Harvard.
Syracuse will compete at next week’s IRA Championships in Sacramento California with three varsity 8 boats and a varsity four crew expected to race.
