The German national football team will be saying goodbye to historic kit supplier Adidas, bringing an end to 72 years together as the national team will be making the switch to Nike. As such, a special kit was announced a few months ago which was expected to be worn at some point this year. The period where these kits will be worn is now clear.
Björn Gulden, the head of Adidas, confirmed that Germany will wear this special farewell kit for the upcoming Nations League games according to an excerpt
from Podcast Spielmacher (as captured by X account @iMiaSanMia). “There will be a new shirt, a farewell shirt, which will be released for the Nations League,” Gulden said. The upcoming Nations League games will take place from September to November 2026.
The initial announcement of making the switch from Adidas to Nike received considerable backlash from the public and even high-ranking individuals. Nike winning over its critics will be easier said than done, and it remains to be seen if they ever do it.
